John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse

Best For:

• Rowing club events, regattas, and water sports gatherings
• Intimate waterfront ceremonies and small cocktail receptions
• University-affiliated functions and academic events
• Corporate team-building activities with water access

Estimated Budget Range: Contact venue directly for pricing. As a university-affiliated waterfront venue, expect moderate to mid-range rates ($2,000–$8,000+ depending on event size and rental duration). Actual costs vary significantly based on guest count, time of day, and seasonal availability.

What planners usually like:

• Distinctive riverside setting on UBC campus provides natural aesthetic without extensive decoration needs
• Consistent daily availability (open 7 days, 9:30 AM–5:00 PM) simplifies scheduling
• Direct water access creates unique opportunities for water-based events or water-view receptions
• Responsive team reportedly communicates clearly and works collaboratively with external planners

Things to clarify before booking:

• Capacity limits: Confirm exact guest count ranges and whether capacity varies by event type or indoor/outdoor setup
• Amenities and facilities: Verify what's included (tables, chairs, kitchen access, restroom facilities, parking) versus what requires outside vendors
• Operating hours: Confirm if evening or weekend extensions beyond 5:00 PM are possible and any associated fees
• Weather contingencies: Understand indoor backup options, tent policies, and how weather impacts waterfront event logistics
