Event Description

2016 marks the 16th edition of ‘Canada’s coolest film festival’. The Whistler Film Festival combines an esteemed international film competition with a concentrated onscreen industry Summit organized to address the ever-evolving landscape crossing borders and platforms in the digital age. Featuring up to 90 innovative and original films from around the world, this year’s festival will be action packed with premieres, honoured guests, lively celebrations, and unique industry initiatives. Plus the fest includes the Music Café featuring up to 10 British Columbian artists and the annual Celebrity Challenge Ski Race. WFF expects to attract over 13,000+ attendees including 1,000+ industry insiders and 54 Canadian artists selected to participate in our slate of talent project development programs. Best of all, it is set in North America’s premier mountain resort, offering endless play in a winter wonderland.

When the Whistler Film Festival was founded in 2001, it was with the intention to put Whistler on the map for arts and culture. The scope and scale of the Whistler Film Festival Society has grown considerably since. Today, our organization produces a well-respected, credible event on the international film festival circuit, augmented by film presentations and project development programs for Canadian artists throughout the year that serve over 15,000 attendees, including 1,000 industry and 1,700 over Alumni. Recognized by filmmakers and film lovers alike as one of Canada’s most important showcases for film, Whistler is a place where artists are celebrated; audiences are inspired, new ideas are discussed, and business opportunities are solidified.
