Event Description
The ESM is delighted to support young scientists (PhD students or postdocs in the first 5 years) with a travel grant to attend the annual meeting of the European Society of Mycobacteriology. Travel grants comprise of travel support of up to 700 Euro and free registration.

More than 240 persons attended the 35th Congress of European Society of Mycobacteriology hold from 29th June – 02nd July in the Arcotel Wimberger, a conference location close to the centre of the city Vienna. The conference was officially opened with a lecture on the public health relevance of tuberculosis given by the Austrian Chief Medical Officer Pamela Rendi-Wagner(AT). The Honoree Lecture of Salman Siddiqi (USA) gave an overview on implications of industrialized approaches to improve quality in the mycobacteriology laboratory and the Gertrud Meissner Award Lecture from Paolo Miotto (IT) presented the knowledge on the role of small RNAs in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Fourthy lectures were given in total and 93 posters, four of which were awarded, were presented. The social program included also a visit to the Albertina Museum, which allowed the participants to familiarise with the outstanding works of the Batliner Collection.
