Event Description

On behalf of the European Association for Osseointegration and the French Society of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, we are delighted to announce details of the EAO’s 25th Annual Scientific Congress in Paris. The scientific committee and the EAO board have prepared an exciting programme focusing on many aspects of treatment planning and decision-making. As well as featuring world-renowned speakers, the congress will include numerous interactive elements involving the audience. We are also very pleased and honoured to welcome Japan as a guest country during the congress. The EAO Annual Congress provides a unique opportunity for researchers and clinicians to present their scientifics studies, both as posters and during the oral presentation sessions.

About Organizer

During the late eighties a number of concerned scientists, teachers and clinicians met in Munich at the invitation of Prof. P.-I. Brånemark following a clinical meeting on osseointegration. They were of the opinion that many scientific meetings in the emerging field of osseointegration were being unduly influenced by commercial companies and were often organised by societies with little or no academic or scientific background. It was clear that the necessary critical mindset towards the use of endosseous implants was mostly absent as signified by the term "implantology" and that the use of implants could become an end in itself rather than the means by which a successful rehabilitation could be achieved.
